iPad: the third category

iPad has been anounced.
Jobs calls it the third category device, then would it be successful as iPod and iPhone? The middle between laptop and mobile might be a good point to aim at least, or it might look too good for other companies to invest in it.

Some of the articles about it mentions the price relatively lower than the expectation by analysts. The lowest one is $499. Laptop is also fairly reasonable these days anyway, so I'm not sure how big a impact the low price has, but the usability, and how it can change our life style, must be a important factor to decide if it becomes a successful product.
