School of Saatchi (4)

I've watched the whole series of School of Saatchi. Actually only episode 2 was not available, so I watched 3 of 4.

The ending was a kind of proper contemporary art answers, which means the final art chosen by the jury is really contemporary in a sense.

Anyway, what I feel personally and intuitively is two things:
1. Passion!
It is art. When I was most excited in the TV series was the moment of the final exhibition. Of course, the quality of work and, since at least this is competition, the result are really important, but that kind of energetic moment is the thing motivating or fascinating people into "Art", which is in a way meaningless. Passion, fascination behind art are a key driver to move people about it.

2. Hidden Charles Saatchi
Charles Saatchi himself never turns out in the TV series. In stead of him, one of his staff comes out on the screen and gives some comments. It is effective to make his presence mythical (it is a completely different way from Design for Life, in which the jury, Philip Stark, turns out and even facilitate the competition, it might be from difference of their roles between an art dealer and a designer), but on the other hand sometimes, it seems a bit silly, because sometimes what she says is obviously her opinion, but still she says, "Charles thinks...", "Charles is saying...". I'm sure it is difficult work to pretend it, so she did very good work anyway. I just think there might be something like a more natural setting.
